16 years...

It's hard to believe it's been that long. 16 years ago today our house burnt down. I was in 8th grade at the time. Becky and I were supposed to do something after school that day but Dad and Lori came to pick us up. They took us to my aunts house to tell us what happened. We lost 40-some birds, 2 dwarf hamsters, and our dog Chelsea. It was a sad sad day.
We stayed at a hotel in Sturgis for a couple of nights. I went to school the next day because I didn't want to just sit around all day at the hotel. We all went to school.
I wished so many times that we could have done something to save all those animals.
Thank god none of us were home.
